Why Two Colors?

Contrast & Visibility That Single-Color Can't Match

A contrasting fill and outline mean your registration numbers are readable from every angle, in every light condition — protecting you from fines and keeping your vessel looking sharp year after year.

Two-color designs separate the character fill from the outline, ensuring your registration numbers read instantly — regardless of whether your hull is white, black, dark blue, or gel-coated.

Every two-color decal is printed with UV-stabilized pigments and laminated with a marine-grade overcoat. Colors hold vivid for 7+ years even in direct sun, saltwater spray, and extreme temperature swings.

Ideal for Multi-Hull & Larger Vessels

Catamarans, trimarans, and vessels over 26 ft have more hull real estate and often face faster-moving enforcement. Two-color numbers are visible from greater distances, meeting or exceeding every state's legibility requirements.

Single-color decals blend into hull color. Two-color decals signal care and craftsmanship to marina staff, inspectors, and fellow boaters — a subtle yet impactful mark of professionalism.

Step-by-Step

Installation Guide

Two-color decals go on just like single-color vinyl — no special tools required. Follow these four steps for a bubble-free, professional result every time.

1

Clean & Measure the Application Area

Wipe the hull surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove wax, salt, and oils. Measure and mark a light pencil guideline so characters sit at the correct height and spacing — state regulations typically require a 3-inch clearance from the waterline.

2

Peel the Transfer Backing

Peel the paper backing at a 45° angle. If the vinyl clings to the liner, use a squeegee to burnish the decal from behind, then retry. Work in a shaded area to prevent the adhesive from activating prematurely.

3

Wet or Dry Application

For large characters (6" or 8"), a few drops of soapy water on the hull lets you reposition before final placement. For 3" and 4" characters, dry application is fine — simply align and press firmly from the center outward.

4

Squeegee, Peel Transfer Film & Cure

Use a squeegee (or credit card) to press firmly across the entire character, removing bubbles. Peel the transfer tape at 180° — low and slow. Allow 24–48 hours before the vessel contacts water for full adhesive cure.

Customer Reviews

What Boat Owners Are Saying

Hundreds of satisfied captains across the US trust our two-color registration decals for their vessels.

"My previous registration stickers were plain white on a dark hull and nearly invisible. Switched to two-color — black fill, gold outline — and the difference is night and day. Inspectors can read them from 50 feet away."

"These decals survived a full Florida summer — direct sun, salt spray, humidity. Colors are still crisp after two seasons. The white-on-navy combo looks incredibly professional against my hull."

Center Console — 28 ft

"I was skeptical vinyl would hold on a larger vessel, but the marine-grade material is legit. Installation was painless and the two-color look made my boat stand out at the dock. Ordering a second set for the other hull."
